Unreinforced Masonry (URM) Program Engineering Intern

The Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI) is seeking a college student, preferably a junior or senior undergraduate majoring in Civil Engineering, Community Planning, GIS, or Architecture to join the SDCI Engineering Services team. This position will support updates of the City’s Unreinforced Masonry (URM) database and provide analysis of URM data and support communications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Research URM parapet mitigation projects with Accela permitting software
  • Quality control and data verification of URM database and map updates
  • Supporting URM policy development meetings.
  • Supporting analysis and communication of URM data.

Qualifications:

Education 
Open to all undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited educational program. Preferred Areas of Study: Civil Engineering, Community Planning, Geography, GIS, or Architecture. 

Experience
 Required:

  • Familiar with concepts of geospatial analysis, Office 365 (Word, PPT, Excel).

Desired Qualifications:  

  • GIS, Interest in reading architectural or structural plans.

 

Additional Information:

Start/End Dates:  The internship will start in June 2025 and end in December 2025.
 
Schedule:  Intern will work up to 20 hours/week.  Work hours can be scheduled between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.     
GPA:  Must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA for graduate intern.
  
Hourly Salary Range:  The salary range for this position is $26.41 - $29.72/hour.
