About the Role:
We’re looking for a sharp, values-driven Legal & Ethics Intern to help define and refine Agora’s ethical frameworks and legal positioning. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in reviewing and updating internal policies related to:
- AI usage and monitoring
- Independent contractor engagement and labor practices
- Call recording consent laws (e.g., two-party consent states)
- TCPA, CCPA, and other lead handling compliance
- Draft and propose an Ethics Statement and Code of Conduct that reflects Agora’s mission and growth strategy
- Research best practices and legal precedents for startup AI platforms
- Collaborate with leadership to identify legal gray areas and propose risk mitigation
- Help ensure our practices align with evolving state and federal guidelines
Ideal Candidate Has:
- Background or studies in Law, Pre-Law, Public Policy, Ethics, or a related field
- Strong interest in tech, startups, or emerging regulation around AI and digital labor
- Great writing skills, attention to detail, and clarity in thinking
- Ability to research quickly and present findings in a concise, actionable way
- (Optional) Familiarity with basic legal documents (NDAs, Terms of Service, Consent Policies)
What You’ll Gain:
- Hands-on experience shaping legal and ethical policy at a real startup
- Portfolio-worthy work in legal drafting, research, and ethical strategy
- Mentorship from founders working at the intersection of AI, tech, and business
- Flexible hours, fully remote work, and the chance to make a tangible impact
- Potential for equity-based offer at the end of internship, based on performance
Compensation:
- Unpaid internship initially
- Equity-based opportunity upon completion
- Letter of recommendation and LinkedIn endorsement available
